Agadir Oufella celebrates the Amazigh New Year (Yennayer)
The Amazigh New Year, also known as Yennayer, is a holiday celebrated every year on January 13 by Berber communities in North African countries including Morocco. This year, the city of Agadir celebrated this occasion with a large and diverse cultural program which took place in the cultural venues and large public gardens of the city. The celebrations included musical and artistic performances, exhibitions of Amazigh works and plastic art, as well as screenings of short films.
The Kasbah of Agadir Oufella hosted one of the stages of the three major evenings organized on the occasion of this celebration. The other evenings took place in the Bensergaou and Tikiwine districts. Renowned local artists such as Raissa Fatima Tabaamrant, Abdelaziz Ahouzar, El Batoul El Merouani, Said Outajjt and Ahwash Tafraout were in the spotlight during these evenings.
This celebration is a unique opportunity for the population and younger generations to discover the rich Amazigh heritage of the Souss Massa region. The Amazigh New Year is therefore an opportunity not to be missed to immerse yourself in Berber culture and discover all the richness of this community.
